Arrest made as man in his 50s dies after crash in Macclesfield

A man has been arrested following a fatal crash in Macclesfield.
Cheshire Police have confirmed that a 32-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drugs.
This follows reports of an incident at the roundabout with the junction of Cumberland Street and Hibel Road on Tuesday (June 17).
A pedestrian, believed to be a man in his late 50s, sadly died as a result of his injuries.
Enquiries to establish the full circumstances of what happened are now underway.
Sergeant Simon Degg said: "We are in the early stages of our investigation into the full circumstances of this incident, and we have arrested one individual as part of our enquiries into what happened.
"We would urge any witnesses to this incident to contact us. The same goes for anyone who may have any CCTV or dashcam footage of the incident or any further information."

Police were called to the scene at 11.18am on Tuesday.
Upon arrival, officers found that a van had collided with a pedestrian.
The pedestrian sustained serious injuries and, despite the best efforts of all those involved, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the 32-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene and has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.
