This Christmas, AstraZeneca Macclesfield will be recognising and helping those who are vulnerable in our community by making a financial donation to Silklife food bank in Macclesfield.

Throughout the pandemic, Silklife Food Bank have been delivering emergency food parcels every week to the most vulnerable people in our community and demand has only increased over time.

As the number of those in need is increasing, the average number of people reaching out for support via the food bank has risen by an average of 87%.

The AZ Macclesfield donation will help Silklife to continue to meet and carry on doing their

incredible work and support their growing number of clients. Macclesfield Campus Site Lead Chris Maddock and colleagues met with Dan Blackman, Lead Team Coordinator, to pass on the latest food donations collected on their behalf, and to hear more about their fantastic work. Chris Maddock said "Silklife provide a much-needed service to people across our local community and we are delighted to be able to support them over this festive period with a financial donation in addition to the regular food collections organised by our partners Sodexo." Silklife Foodbank Manager Dan Blackman was grateful for the donation. "We are delighted by AZ's gesture," he said. "We will use the funds to springboard our fundraising appeal in 2022 for a suitable vehicle to help us become more independent with collections and deliveries. This contribution will be a magnificent starting point for this campaign." AstraZeneca Macclesfield is located on Charter Way. The British-Swedish multinational pharmaceutical and biotechnology company is to expand their presence in Macclesfield next year, with another building currently under-construction.
