With train ticket office closures and junior doctors strikes, it is easy to forget that a rail strike is also coming soon.

A 'very limited' service will be ran from Macclesfield Railway Station over the next few days.

That's according to rail operator Northern, who along with Avanti West Coast, will have their staff take to the pickets for industrial action once more.

The next rail strikes are on Thursday 20 July, Saturday 22 July and Saturday 29 July. Less frequent service and shorter hours of operation could result in busy trains.

While Northern will still have trains running, Macclesfield will also not be served by Avanti West Coast at all on these three dates 'due to operational reasons'.

Avanti West Coast said in a statement: "Customers with tickets for 20 or 22 July (purchased before 22 June) can claim a full fee-free refund from their point of purchase. Alternatively, tickets dated 20 or 22 July can be used the day before or up to and including 25 July.

Northern's limited service will see their first train leave Macclesfield to Manchester at 8:06am on Thursday July 20, with the next one being an hour later.

Commuters from Macclesfield are used to at least three services in the morning per hour, but this won't be the case on these dates.

A single train will continue to Manchester from Macc at six past every hour until 6pm, when trains cease for the day.

The only trains to Macclesfield to London Euston on strike days will be CrossCountry services, which require changes and are not direct.

Trains to Stoke from Macc on strike days will also be just one every hour, at 46 minutes past.

Customers are advised to check the websites of rail operators or ticket platforms for live updates.
