Avanti West Coast share update Macclesfield station’s £2 million redevelopment

Avanti West Coast has shared an update on the works taking place at Macclesfield railway station.
The final stage of the station's £2 million redevelopment, which started towards the end of last year, is still due to be completed 'in the spring', the train operator has said.
While we may have ticked into June, Avanti say they are going by the astronomical season and not the meteorological one, giving them a few more weeks to meet this timeline.
A spokesperson said: "We'd like to thank our customers travelling to and from Macclesfield for their continued patience as redevelopment work at the station is ongoing.
"Improvements have been made since work started in November last year, including the installation of Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology.
"We appreciate the understanding of those travelling and the local community as we work alongside third parties to complete the remaining work, so we can officially open an improved gateway to Macclesfield.
"As always, our station team are available to assist with any queries in the meantime."

Centered on the existing building on platform one, the latest phase of the redevelopment aims to create a 'modern and spacious' entrance.
This includes an upgraded ticket office, new waiting room, toilets and a new retail unit.
