A Bollington resident has a new art exhibition, featuring scenes from the Macclesfield countryside.

Landscape painter Benmo - real name Ben Darlington - launched a new art exhibition in Bollington on Thursday.

Local artist Benmo also has 2000 subscribers on YouTube. You can watch a video about the exhibit at the top of this article.

Painting the Fragile Earth is the name of the new exhibition, held at organic grocery shop ROOTSTOCK, on Bollington's Palmerston Street.

It features 26 landscape paintings for sale, and cards of other painted local landmarks.

Local beauty spots featured include Kerridge Ridge and Saltersford, the latter being a particular favourite of the artist.

The exhibition will last until July 26, and is held across ROOTSTOCK's two floors.

He launched his new exhibit serving Bollington brewed beer (and Bollington bought wine) to family and friends.

"In the age of climate chaos, we know that these beautiful scenes and countryside around this are quite threatened," said Benmo.

"I want to spend my time celebrating these wonderful places and hopefully by kind of celebrating their beauty of the reminder of what we have got.

Kerridge Wharf, Shining Tour and Snake Bridge are amongst the local landmarks painted.

"All is not lost and there's lots worth fighting for. And for me thats very positive.

"Giving the exhibit a local flavour, [hopefully] they will share that feeling that these are places to take seriously and are a big part of your life and [something we] want to preserve because it is very special here."

Benmo is originally from Somerset, but has settled and found solace in the beauty of the Macclesfield area.

Also featured is artwork of Rainow, Macclesfield Canal and Bollington's Clarence Mill. Every piece is for sale.

ROOTSTOCK customers can come see the exhibit during the shop's opening times, and there's no charge for seeing the exhibit itself.

The exhibit starts on the ground floor of ROOTSTOCK, with the majority of the exhibit being in the shop's swanky new upstairs space.
