Ramblers are set to descend on Bollington for an annual festival.

The 15th Bollington Walking Festival is just over a month away, getting underway on Saturday, September 6.

Over the course of the week, there will be plenty of opportunities to enjoy a stroll in the countryside with an experience guide and the company of like-minded walkers.

Johanna Maitland, one of the organisers, said: "Once again, we have a great programme of walks and social events with a wide range of activities to cover all abilities and age groups.

"With something for everyone, the week promises to be another wonderful week of opportunities to enjoy the countryside around Bollington."

The 2024 festival proved to be a great success, with an almost 20% rise in the number of participants.

This year's event will feature variations on some of the popular walks from last year, including one organised by the East Cheshire Eye Society, a dementia friendly walk and the ever-popular Friday evening guided walk to a country pub, with a torchlit walk back home.

New additions include a 'Horrible Histories' walk of Bollington, a networking walk for local businesspeople and a walk to Pott Shrigley Church with a chance to climb the bell tower.

Routes range from five miles to 20 miles, meaning there is something for everyone.

Bollington Walking Festival runs from September 6 to September 14.
