Book of condolence opened in memory of Macclesfield couple killed in Lisbon tram crash

A book of condolence has been opened in memory of the couple killed in the Lisbon funicular crash.
Macclesfield residents Kayleigh Smith and Will Nelson were confirmed as two of the 16 people to have died in last Wednesday's (September 3) crash.
St Michael's Church has now opened a book of condolence, offering a space for all who knew them to share memories and light a candle in their memory.
Reverend Canon Vivien Gisby and clergy PA Isobel Forester said: "We were deeply saddened to learn of the sudden and shocking deaths of Kayleigh Smith and Will Nelson in the tragic accident on the funicular railway in Lisbon.
"Kayleigh had friends at St Michael's, and through her work with the MADS theatre was known to the congregation who had enjoyed the plays which she directed with talent and flair.
"Kayleigh and Will were having fun on a holiday together when they were snatched from life.
"The future that might have been theirs was denied them.
"Yet, the love they shared among their families and friends remains."

They continued: "We have opened a book of condolence in the side chapel at St Michael's for you to write your memories and light a candle if you wish.
"As always, whenever the St Michaels doors are open you're welcome to come in for stillness and peace.
"From all of us here at St Michael's, we offer our most heartfelt condolences to Kayleigh and Will's families and friends."
St Michael's, on Market Place, is open from 10am to midday Monday to Wednesday and from 10am to 3pm Thursday to Saturday.
On Sundays, the church is open from 9.30am to 11.45am, with the family worship service taking place at 10am.
