Cheshire Police have shared an update following a crash in Macclesfield.

A DPD van driver was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, drug driving and possession of a knife following a crash on Coare Street on Tuesday morning, September 8.

The 24-year-old man from Shelton has now been bailed until December 3, 2026, police have confirmed.

Meanwhile, a 68-year-old local woman who sustained serious injuries in the crash remains at Salford Royal Hospital, where she was taken by air ambulance.

Police say her condition remains 'critical' as of 2.30pm on Friday, September 11.

Her adopted daughter, Kim Richards from Kent, has since launched a GoFundMe to help her travel up to visit her mother.

Kim said: "She is out of surgery now but she is not out of the woods.

"I am struggling to get to her and I am scared I am running out of time.

"I am looking for any donations just to help me go see and stay with her."

Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and police are appealing for anyone with any information to come forward.

Inspector Andy Dennison, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "This was a serious collision and were committed to doing all we can to establish exactly what took place.

"As part of our investigation we would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any video footage.
