A Macclesfield schoolgirl features in a Hollywood blockbuster.

Practical Magic 2, the long-awaited Warner Bros. sequel to the beloved 1998 cult classic, opened in UK cinemas on Friday, September 11.

It sees Harriett Scott, a young performer from Macclesfield, make her cinematic debut as a young Antonia Owens, daughter of Sally Owens played by Oscar-winning actress Sandra Bullock.

Securing the role just over 12 months ago thanks to Echo Casting, Harriett's journey from self-tape invitation to confirmed booking took just 18 days.

Her mother, Emma, said: "When the self-tape invitation came through, we knew it was a big moment - but Harriett just got on with it.

"She prepared, she filmed, she gave everything she had, and she did it with a smile on her face. Watching her walk into that recall in London and hold her own was one of the proudest moments of my life.

"This experience has shown her - and us - just how far her hard work and confidence can take her. We are so grateful to Echo Casting for believing in her and supporting us every step of the way."

Echo Casting was founded in 2025 by Lisa Campbell and Samantha Martin, following the success of Echo Performing Arts Academy across Cheshire.

Having worked as chaperones on professional TV and film productions, the team recognised an opportunity to give Echo's students direct access to the industry — and launched the children's talent agency to do exactly that.

Harriett's audition invite arrived on May 22, 2025, and within five days, Harriett had filmed, prepared and submitted her self-tape.

On June 2, she travelled to London for a recall, where she met the director alongside a small group of girls auditioning for two roles.

A week latter, Harriett received the news that she had booked the role, with filming taking place at a confidential location.

Out in cinemas now, Harriett appears in the film alongside Practical Magic's witchy sisters played by Bullock and Nicole Kidman, as well as new cast members Joey King and Maisie Williams, who plays the older Antonia Owens.

Lisa, founder and principal of Echo Casting and Echo Performing Arts Academy, said: "Harriett has been with us since the very first day of our Thursday academy, and she has always shown the kind of dedication and self-belief that sets young performers apart. Watching her take on her first major self-tape — and do it so brilliantly, so bravely and so professionally — is exactly why we set up Echo Casting.

"I wanted the children we work with every week to have access to more extraordinary opportunities - and I cannot have imagined a better example of this than working alongside such experienced actresses and directors. We are all so incredibly proud of Harriett."
