Music festivals in Macclesfield and across the country are confirming their line-ups.
And if you're Staying Out for the Summer at a music festival, but can't wait until then, a spring music festival in Macclesfield have announced a new headliner for their line-up.
London Britpop legends Dodgy have been added for the line-up for Macclesfield's Party in the Pews festival, this May.
Dodgy are a late addition to the line-up, after previous headliner Neville Staple dropped out for health reasons.
The four-piece, best known for their UK No. 4 single Good Enough (1996), will take to the stage on Saturday May 25.
Party in the Pews have proudly announced Dodgy joining the line-up. "We are beyond ecstatic to bring Dodgy to Christ Church Macclesfield," they said.
Dodgy join fellow headliner The Slow Readers Club, alongside a curated line-up of live music talent. Local acts also make the billing.
Dodgy's frontman was already booked for the festival, but now his fellow founding bandmates Matthew Priest, Andy Miller and Stuart Thoy are coming to Macclesfield too.
Festival organiser Jo Lowes had this to say, "We were already beyond excited to have front man Nigel Clark on the bill doing a solo set, so bringing the full band was our first choice to full the slot. They are an amazing live band and I was a huge fan in their early days."
The first time round, Dodgy were only together for seven years but in that time they sold over a million records worldwide, released three albums and enjoyed 12 Top 40 singles, including So Let Me Go Far, Melodies Haunt You, and the massive hit Good Enough - officially one of the most played tracks on British radio in the last 25 years.
2024 sees the 28th Anniversary of Dodgy's best-selling album, Free Peace Sweet - a fan favourite and deemed a classic album of the era, the band intend to celebrate it's 28th Birthday next year with a series of celebratory shows. With Macclesfield now being one of them!
The band and the Macclesfield music festival are a good match. Party in the Pews is known for raising money for charity, meanwhile Dodgy gained notoriety for supporting charities like War Child and The Trussell Trust, as well as being the second ever British band to play Bosnia following the Siege of Sarajevo.
Dodgy released their comeback album Stand Upright In A Cool Place in 2012, and in 2017 Dodgy released What Are We Fighting For, the fifth album from the original line-up. Their most recent album was also the first album to feature new member Stu Thoy on bass and also featured the incredible Vanessa Wilson-Best from Ultrasound.
Gigs and festival appearances have always been a crucial part of the Dodgy experience, for many they are the perfect festival band.
The band have performed at most festivals worth their salt, such as Bestival, Isle of Wight, Camp Bestival, V Festival, Glastonbury, Reading, Beautiful Days, Hyde Park, Kendal Calling and many more across the UK and Europe and we can not wait to have them headline Christ Church Macclesfield for Party in the Pews 2024.
