East Cheshire NHS Trust's audiology service has been recognised for their high standard of care after receiving UKAS accreditation via the IQIPS (Improving Quality in Physiological Services) standard.
The accreditation recognises quality clinical care and management across five domains – Leadership and Management, Clinical, Patient Experience, Safety and Risk Management, and Facilities and Resources.
This means that adults, children, young people and their families can be assured that they are receiving high quality care with the Trust.
The Trust's audiology service provides both adults and children with a range of support with all types of hearing loss at both Macclesfield District General Hospital and Macclesfield Health Hub.
Audiology Clinical Lead for East Cheshire NHS Trust, Robert Johnson said: "We have always strived to provide a first-class service to all the patients and their families and it is fantastic that this accreditation is proving the excellence we're committed to."
"This achievement follows a great deal of hard work and is testament to the team's commitment to continual improvement and providing confidence to the adults, children and families using our services."
The accreditation is managed and delivered by UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) and covers eight Physiological Science disciplines. The external assessors check that the service can demonstrate that it can consistently follow current evidence based scientific practice, guidance and protocols.
UKAS also look at quality measures in the department, the environment in which the Audiology teamwork, and how governance is supported by structures in the Trust.
