Businesses battle it out in old-school sports day to support domestic abuse charity

Businesses battled it out in a good old-fashioned sports day to support a domestic abuse charity.
Macclesfield-based recruitment company Synergy Recruitment brought local businesses together for a day of sporting fun, raising £3,402.11 for My CWA (Cheshire Without Abuse).
It was picked as the firm's charity of the year after funding cuts left its future hanging in the balance.
"When we heard about the funding cuts, we knew we had to do something to help," said Yasmin Bentley, director of Synergy Recruitment.
"The response from the local business community has been incredible, and after such a brilliant day, we're already planning to make our Charity Sports Day an annual event!"

Determined to raise awareness and much-needed funds, earlier this month Synergy staged a Charity Sports Day.
Held at Macclesfield Rugby Club, a number of local businesses took part, competing in everything from egg and spoon races and tug of war to the beanbag toss and sack race.
The friendly competition was rounded off with a charity raffle and BBQ, with the event proving a hit with participants.
Hannah Shaw of SAS Daniels said: "It was a really great event, our team all had a lot of fun and we'd happily attend again!"
