A cancer support group in Macclesfield turned one on Saturday April 29, celebrating their 12th event in our town.

When the Ambassadors got together last February to plan for the inaugural 5k Your Way Move Against Cancer at Macclesfield Parkrun, they didn't realise what a successful event they were setting up.

The MOVE Charity was set up five years ago in Nottingham to help get people living with cancer, their families and health workers get together once a month to have exercise as part of their life and learn from each other.

There are now around 100 5KYW groups across the UK and Macclesfield 5KYW has just celebrated its first anniversary.

Ambassador Liam Bergin - a core part of the success of this group - with his family.

The event held on the last Saturday of each month goes from strength to strength and the team had a great morning walking, jogging and some running the parkrun, followed by the usual coffee at the Park Tavern on nearby Park Lane.

If you would like to come and join them to benefit from some friendly company, look for the blue shirts or for more information contact us at [email protected] or via joining the group on Facebook.

The next one will be on Saturday May 27 2023. They meet at the South Park Bandstand.
