Three musicians from Macclesfield are celebrating as they have secured a hit album according to the Official Charts Company.

Tropical pop band Cassia have charted in the Top 15 on the Independent Albums Charts, appearing above the new release of a Grammy Award winner.

New album Why You Lacking Energy? placed at Number 14, placing above the new release from ex-Beatles and Pink Floyd engineer Alan Parsons.

The band comprises Rob Ellis from Prestbury, bassist Lou Cotterill from the Moss Estate, and completing the trio on the drums is Tytherington's Jake Leff.

Their calypso-twinged second album was launched with a gig at Macclesfield's Mash Guru earlier this month. You may have also recognised the tens of album posters dotted around Macclesfield, to help them with this chart success.

The chart success should come as no surprise, as almost 600,000 people listen to the band every month around the world.

Why You Lacking Energy? was also the 24th best-selling vinyl record last week.

Their debut album did place higher in the Independent Albums and Official Albums Chart in 2019, however, there were less new releases when that album released.

The band will play Ynot Festival near Matlock this weekend. And a European and UK tour will follow in the autumn. They will also play the Manchester Academy on October 13.

You can listen to the new album on SpotifyApple Music, and YouTube.

You can also buy it from their shop, and record stores are hoping to stock it from next month in Macclesfield.
