Cheshire's Silk Radio, the local radio station for Macclesfield and East Cheshire, is marking its 25th anniversary with a major expansion of its coverage broadcasting.

They will now also broadcast on DAB.

The station, which launched on 25 May 1998, is now available on DAB digital radio on the South Cheshire and Moorlands multiplexes.

The DAB launch coincides with the station's birthday celebrations, which include special programming, competitions and events.

Listeners could tune in to hear nostalgic clips from the past 25 years, interviews with former presenters and staff, and messages from local celebrities and dignitaries. The station gave away prizes to lucky listeners every hour of the day.

Cheshire's Silk Radio's CEO Chris Hurst said: "We are thrilled to be celebrating our 25th birthday with such a significant milestone for the station. DAB digital radio will allow us to reach more listeners than ever before and offer them a better sound quality and more choice. We are proud of our heritage as Cheshire's local radio station and we look forward to continuing to serve our community with great music, news and information for many more years to come."

Cheshire's Silk Radio broadcasts a variety of music, news and information, catering to the tastes and interests of the people of East Cheshire. The station is owned and operated by Dee Radio Group, which also owns Chester's Dee Radio, Love 80s Manchester and Love 80s Liverpool.
