Christmas Foodbank Collection at Macclesfield Rugby Club a huge success

Today Macclesfield Rugby Union Football Club and Cllr James Barber (Broken Cross and Upton ward) hosted a Christmas Foodbank Collection to support local families have a good Christmas.
The collection saw two hundreds of items being donated, and all involved were blown away by the generosity of local residents.
The Collection also requested Toys to be distributed over Christmas, and this demand was met brilliantly! All Donations went to Cheshire Streetwise, who are a local charity sorting out food parcels for some of the most vulnerable families in the area.
Cllr James Barber said: "I am absolutely in awe of the sheer generosity of local residents, who came out in force today to donate food, toiletries, sanitary products and toys to support families in need over Christmas. A huge thanks from myself to the amazing team at Macclesfield RUFC for organising this, the volunteers who supported, and to Cheshire Streetwise for all the vital work they do in the local community!"
Phil Mason, who Manages the Mini and Junior Section of the RUFC, said "Macclesfield RUFC is proud to be a part of the Macclesfield Community, and has been delighted to act as a central collection point for the excellent local charity, Cheshire Streetwise.
"On Sunday mornings we have over 300 mini and junior players at the club, and parents/club members have been extremely generous, as have the wider community! Thanks to Cllr James Barber and Tom and Hannah Davenport for giving up their time to help out!"
Maggie Falconer Drew-Taylor, from Cheshire Streetwise, said: "Cheshire Streetwise have a busy Christmas coming up, with food parcels being done on Monday 21st as normal, and Christmas Eve there will be take-away Christmas meals, food parcels and gift boxes Frenjabi have a planned meal on Christmas Eve at 12pm for anyone in need, so please contact [email protected] or call 07719509061."
"The shop will be open between 10am-12pm on Christmas Day to give out food and gifts to anyone in need.
"Cheshire Streetwise and Calvary Church are feeding over 5000 people, with amazing support from groups of volunteers with bags full of kindness, care and compassion!"
