As Britain sweltered in record-breaking heat, an exhibition connecting comic artwork and climate change was taking place.

And you can still visit it now, as it is upstairs at Macclesfield Library until Friday.

Ten Years to Save the World features short stories in comic-book art style, all about the climate crisis.

Another tells the story of a female climate activist who is portrayed as a superhero.

The exhibition, which has been touring the UK, was brought to Macclesfield for this month's Macc-Pow comic art festival, after an enquiry from Macclesfield comic artist king Marc Jackson.

"This exhibition is part of National Comic Art Festival, which Macc-Pow is part of", he said.

"I'd always wanted to go and see it but couldn't get the chance. I messaged the national festival director Julie Tait on a whim saying where it is going next, and managed to get it here.

Some of the exhibits feature full stories, others you must scan on a QR code to read the rest, but all carry a powerful message.

Other exhibits feature a cartoon Greta Thunberg, and a despondent orangutan suffering the effects of deforestation.

According to Library staff, footfall has been especially good for an exhibition.

"It is a really important issue with some really great creators from all over the world", added Marc.

Artists include Budjette Tan & Kajo Baldisimo, Clarice Tudor, Darren Cullen, Emiliana Kampilan, Jack Teagle, Kevin Eric Raymundo, Manix Abrera, Ren Galeno, Sayra Begum and Zoom Rockman. (Image - Alexander Greensmith / Macclesfield Nub News)

"The people coming into the Library have been a real good mix of comic art fans, and people who aren't but care about the message.

"A climate change professor is even going to do a talk at Macclesfield Library, based on the fact he enjoyed the exhibition so much."

This year's Macc-Pow festival was the biggest yet, and saw people as far as Ireland travel to Cheshire's biggest celebration of comic art. It will be held next year.

Ten Years to Save the World is at Macclesfield Library until the end of Friday July 22.

Outside of Macc-Pow, Marc hosts comic art-themed events for school groups, kids parties and enthusiasts.
