Macclesfield's answer to Comic-Con will take place this weekend.

Macc-Pow, an annual comic book art festival, will return as an in-person event this year.

It is hosted by Macclesfield comic book artist Marc Jackson, who you may recognise from his work featured in businesses across Macclesfield.

This year's event will be held over two days this weekend, and at over five different Macclesfield venues.

Macclesfield residents, creatives, kids and comic book fans from further afar are all expected to attend.

And many of the comic book artists who will be exhibiting their talent, have worked with global comic brands such as Beano and zombie series The Walking Dead.

On Saturday July 2, Macclesfield Town Hall, Waterstones and Macclesfield Library on Jordangate will host events.

This includes superhero comic artist Sean Phillips and The Walking Dead's Charlie Adlard building a huge LEGO from the Transformers series.

Beano cartoonist Laura Howell will show you how you can draw UK comic icon Minnie the Minx.

Sunday July 3 sees events at Room for Comics (upstairs from Flour Water Salt), The Button Warehouse and Cinemac.

A cartoonist from The Observer newspaper will be doing a masterclass, and Manga artist Sonia Leong, will share how you can replicate the iconic Japanese comic art style.

Most of the events are free, but some require a small fee. Please note the paid events are for more child-centric activities.

Ticketed events can be purchased here. But remember, most events are free.

The event includes Macclesfield-based sponsors such as The Wharf pub of Brook Street, and Roe Street's Cinemac.

The event has also been endorsed by Macclesfield Town Council.

Marc Jackson's own Macclesfield comic hub will also host some events. Room for Comics opened on Market Place in September last year.
