Every Thursday we round up the best events happening in Macclesfield over the next three-to-four days.

This weekend is a big one, and we've cherry-picked four Macclesfield events that you could all go to this weekend.

All events are all-ages, and all kinds of fun. Don't forget, you can promote your Macclesfield events for FREE on our What's On section.

Here's our picks of the greatest things to do in Macclesfield this weekend.

Bluedot Festival

The Jodrell Bank Observatory will become the coolest place on the planet this weekend, as indie and alternative music heroes will perform just metres away from the Lovell Telescope.

Bands include London collective Metronomy, Scottish stalwarts Mogwai, and a Björk Orchestral performance from Iceland's most famous musical export.

Local acts taking to the stage include Sea Fever, and Chester-born Charlatan Tim Burgess. Astronaut Tim Peake is another big name which will appear.

There will also be a celebration of science, comedy and more. Tickets can still be bought here, for day tickets or the whole festival.

Geology Walk

If it is a different kind of rock you are after, a geology walk will take place at Tegg's Nose this Sunday.

The two-and-a-half hour trek promises to explore the geological history of the park and wider Cheshire Plain.

It is a great way to get fit, and work your mind as well.
