Comic fans flocked to Macclesfield as a popular event made its return.

Macc-Pow! returned for its 11th year over the weekend, bringing together local and international creators from the world of comic book art.

The four-day festival attracted hundreds of visitors, who enjoyed a wide selection of workshops, exhibitions, film screenings and interactive activities.

Marc Jackson, co-organiser and owner of Macclesfield's Room for Comics, said: "What an incredible few days.

"This time last week we were hurtling towards the festival getting everything ready to go, and now it's done.

"What a joyful celebration of comic art, with creators and fans alike joining us from around the world.

"We can't tell you how much this means to both me and Jane to see how everyone involved, worked together to create something truly unique."

Marc continue: "The spirit in the comics community is strong, but this weekend its strength knew no bounds.

"Comics change lives, that's a fact, and if you were an exhibitor, guest, volunteer, helper, supporter, participant or visitor, we owe each and every one of you a debt of gratitude.

"Every single year Macc-Pow! becomes an even better version of its past self. That is something we are most proud of.

"We are so proud of what we have built and how the world of comics and the community has joined us to celebrate in our home town.

"The feedback so has been just wonderful to hear and read. It can feel quite lonely when there's just the two of you organising something so big! But when the day finally arrives, we feel surrounded with good energy and amazing support.

"Comics have changed our lives, and we thank you."

He said: "I absolutely loved spending Saturday at the festival - what an outstanding job you've all done.

"Very proud to support Macc-Pow! and I will continue to do so even after my time as mayor ends.

"To Marc, Jane and all involved, thank you."

Emma Reynolds, a festival regular, added: "Such an amazing community atmosphere!

"We love coming to Macc-Pow! every year and seeing familiar faces and meeting new people too - just so life-affirming and wholesome and good.

"Thank you for all your hard work and continued enthusiasm, community events like this are so important."

Another attendee, Chris Common-Swings, said: "I've been struggling with creativity and making things ever since my accident two years ago, and I'm so glad I came to your show.

"The joy of comics was on every stall and I've come back more determined than ever to get back to it.
