Community-funded pilot of Macclesfield-made TV show releases online
A hard-working Macclesfield creative has released the pilot episode of a TV series.
Kitty Riggs, the stage name of a Bollington resident and Tytherington businesswoman, has launched the pilot episode of Don't Lick the Walls on YouTube.
The comedy drama tackles mental health, in a playful, modern fashion.
The vibe of the show has the vim and vigour of a BBC Three programme, with the production values to go with it.
This is Kitty's debut into screenwriting and directing, creating the pilot episode in the hopes of it being commissioned.
As reported on by Macclesfield Nub News back in January, the film was fundraised by generous people from Macclesfield, and beyond, on the website JustGiving.
"We made the episode with no funding, except for the generous crowdfunding donation of £450," she said.
"Just sheer will, determination and teamwork got this wonderful show made in just under a week!
"Our talented crew was an all-female team, consisting of six incredible women aged 17-30, bursting gender stereotypes and creating opportunities for women in film- something we're incredibly passionate about.
"Our show champions friendship and mental health, it has never been more important that we look after our minds and each other. The show follows the kids in Hawksmoor's new and questionable mental health respite facility: 'The Sad House,' on their adventures to getting better- together, through it all."
Don't Lick The Walls is Kitty's passion project, coming straight from her heart and her own experience of mental health. It is her dream to see it on the big telly one day.
