The Cheshire East Council highways team have created a touching tribute to NHS and frontline staff outside of Macclesfield District and General Hospital.

They have painted a message on the road simply stating: "Thank you NHS".

Below the message is the NHS logo inside a rainbow coloured heart which has come to represent the weekly 'Clap for Carers' tribute.

The caption accompanying the social media post said: "Our Highways team, alongside their partners, have painted our thank you outside of two local NHS hospitals in Leighton & Macclesfield as an appreciation for all of their hard work!

"We hope it helps to brighten their day as they go to & from work #StayHomeSaveLives."
