A unique opportunity to walk on fire in Macclesfield will occur this month.

It is to raise money for The Christie Macclesfield, which will open to treat thousands of cancer patients from December 2021.

£23 million pounds of the new £26 million site will be paid for with public charity donations.

The fire walking event to fundraise for the Manchester cancer charity will take place on Thursday 25 November 2021.

Firewalking is the practice of walking barefoot on hot embers, it is completely safe and is an invigorating experience.

Temperatures are in the region of 400 degrees Celsius.

The Christie Firewalk is managed by industry experts, UK FIREWALK.

Before taking your first footsteps across the fiery coals in Macclesfield Town centre, they will provide an hour-long training session to help you perfect your technique and alight your excitement for the challenge ahead.

Spaces will be limited, so if this sparks your interest then please do not hesitate to apply.

The fiery fun starts at 6:30pm at Macclesfield Town Hall, SK10 1EA.

Kids can enter, as long as they are aged 12 or over.

Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and be supervised at all times during the event.

Please note, this supervision rule includes child spectators.

But do be aware spectators cannot attend the 60 minute training session.

If it will help you get in the spirit to test your mettle, you can wear fancy dress. However, you must have bare legs up to your knees.

Even a few hundred pounds raised could make a real difference to the lives of cancer patients and their families.

"Ignite your spirit of adventure and brave The Christie Firewalk this winter," said The Christie.

"A firewalk can help overcome fear and inspire people to do things they didn't think possible.

"It's the perfect challenge for team building or personal development.

"Register now for just £15 and all we ask is that you pledge to raise a minimum of £95 in sponsorship.

You can find out more and book your slot here.

If you are feeling nervous or on the fence about participation, The Christie recommends to please consult your doctor.

If you are taking part, get in touch. We'd love to write a follow-up story about your money raised for Macclesfield Nub News.
