Country pub ready for new era as independent free house at the heart of the community

A country pub is ready to enter a new era.
The Cock and Pheasant in Bollington will soon be going independent, leaving the Vintage Inns group.
Soon-to-be landlord Carl Bromiley can't wait for the journey ahead.
He said: "I'm massively excited!
"To be the one who has got the opportunity to put it back to the heart of the community as opposed to a company-owned business is ideal.
"I'd be silly not to be a little nervous, it keeps you on your toes more than anything!"

Carl, who was brought up in Macclesfield, started at the Cock and Pheasant in 2011, becoming general manager in 2018.
He is now purchasing the lease for the pub from Vintage Inns, a brand owned by Mitchell and Butlers.
"They were looking at possibilities," Carl said.
"It was effectively a joint decision between me and the company.
"Rather than being a branded operation, the consensus was that it will do better as an independent business."
The Cock and Pheasant will close its doors as a Vintage Inn for the final time on Thursday, August 14.
It will then reopen as an independent free house on Friday, August 22.
While there isn't time for a full refurbishment, Carl says there will be some 'noticeable differences'.
He said: "It's quite food-orientated at the moment and we're not looking to lose that at all, but we are looking to balance it back out to be a proper traditional community pub.
"Part of the pub will be more geared towards the locals, probably putting the sports TV back in.
"But we're not looking to lose the family dining aspect. We will be keeping the play area and the nice beer garden.
"It's just about finding a good middle ground for everyone."
