A delivery driver's van was stolen during an attack down a country lane near Macclesfield.

Cheshire Police have launched an appeal for witnesses after a delivery driver was assaulted and then had his van stolen in Nether Alderley.

At around 4.30pm on Tuesday, September 16, the van was parked on Artists Lane when the driver was approached from behind.

Something was sprayed into the driver's eyes and he was assaulted, with the offender making off in his van.

While the vehicle was later recovered, it was discovered that the packages due for delivery were missing.

DC Danielle Goodwin said: "We're appealing to anyone who was in the Artists Lane area around this time and may have Dashcam footage to contact us."

Anyone with information should contact Cheshire Police on 101 or via the website quoting IML 2177264.

Alternatively, information can be given anonymously by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
