Macclesfield charity The Rossendale Trust is celebrating as one of its tenants, has secured his own radio show.

Trevor Kennerley, who has a learning disability, lives at The Trust and is supported by care staff to live independently within the community.

Trevor has had a life-long ambition to make a splash on the airwaves, and now thanks to a new nearby radio station, he can.

Trevor has always had a passion for music from all genres and eras and his knowledge of music is exceptional.

The Trust prides itself on breaking down barriers to ensure that the people it supports have the opportunities to live full and meaningful lives. And now it can for Trevor, thanks to Cheshire East's newest radio station. (Image - The Rossendale Trust / Congleton Radio)

He has told residents and staff of the Sutton good cause of his dreams to be a DJ for many years, and is a regular listener of radio shows.

So, when the Trust were recently visited by Stuart Nield from newly-launched community station Congleton Radio, it was only right that he got to meet Trevor.

It wasn't long before Stuart recognised Trevor's enthusiasm for radio and spotted his natural talent as a DJ and he soon offered him a slot on the airwaves. As Stuart explains "Trevor has done an amazing job and we are delighted to have him feature on our radio station. It's a pleasure having Trevor as a member of our team, and we look forward to working with him on many more shows."

Thanks to a fantastic donation from Congleton Rotary club, Stuart has been able to record Trevor's shows in his own apartment. During his show Trevor will be introducing listeners to a selection of his favourite tunes.

Trevor is delighted with the opportunity he has been given - "It's a dream. I've always wanted my own show. I can't believe that I can listen to myself on the radio!"

Congleton Radio have also produced a radio documentary about the Trust capturing a day in the life of the charity. This is soon to be aired on the station so everyone can find out what it is like to live, work and visit the Trust.

Trevor's Greatest Hits show can be heard on Congleton Radio on Saturday evenings at 7 p.m. You can listen to Congleton Radio by clicking here, or via Amazon Alexa.
