A full season of concerts announced by Northern Chamber Orchestra between September 2021 and May 2022, which will bring the finest classical musicians to Macclesfield.

The Northern Chamber Orchestra has announced details of their stunning 2021-22 season, which sees performances across the North West along with streaming options for those unable to visit venues.

They revealed at least eight upcoming concerts will take place in the The Heritage Centre, Macclesfield, on Roe Street.

The first Macclesfield concert will be in two months time on September 25. Pianist Steven Osborne will host the first gig, playing Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4 and the orchestra will also play Beethoven's Symphony No. 4. Tickets range from £18 to £23 and can be found here.

The orchestra is the oldest professional chamber ensemble in the North West, and has today announced its return to the live stage. They'll take place in venues not just in Macclesfield, but across Manchester and Cheshire.

The orchestra, which will turn 55 next year, presents an exciting season featuring a host of international classical music stars.

Aside the NCO's opening concert with Steven Osborne, the orchestra is also joined by other guest soloists including principal oboe of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra John Roberts and principal horn of the BBC Philharmonic, Ben Hulme.

English violinist Chloë Hanslip, Australian guitarist Craig Ogden and cellist Raphael Wallfisch make up the stellar guest soloist line up.

The Northern Chamber Orchestra will this year be spreading its wings with four concerts being streamed to local care homes, with passes available to the general public, thanks to the support of a grant of £44,064 from Arts Council England, awarded in April.

December 2021 also sees the return of the successful Christmas Concert at Tatton Park, this year with an additional matinee concert. Tatton Park is located just 15 miles from Macc.

Artistic Director of the NCO, Nicholas Ward, said "We are presenting this season as an expression of hope – that once again people will gather together to hear live performances of great music played by excellent musicians and some great soloists.

"The global pandemic has caused so much hardship and misery, Musicians have been frustrated at being unable to give concerts; some have left the profession," said the Orchestra.

"Others have suffered from loss of confidence, an absolute necessity when performing in public.

"With help from the Arts Council and all our loyal supporters we have put together a concert series to stimulate, soothe, move and entertain.

"We are delighted to bring this to Macclesfield."

Tickets for the new season are on sale from Monday July 19 from the Northern Chamber Orchestra website or on 0161 247 2220.

Season tickets are also available for the concerts in Macclesfield and Manchester.

Ticket prices start from just £5. Please note the price varies on the event. Some are even allowing free access for kids.
