Registration for an all-ages, all-abilities cycling event in Macclesfield is now open.

The Macclesfield Bikeathon invites locals to ride around Macclesfield, and the beautiful Cheshire Plain.

Proceeds from the big bike ride go to help youth charity Just Drop In, who are located on Duke Street.

The event was last held in 2019, and will take place on Saturday 23rd October 2021.

"Bikeathon has a route to suit most abilities including a 12 mile family ride, starting from Market Place," said organiser Darren Allgood of AllGood Cycling.

"There will be stalls and attractions hoping to create a community vibe.

"Bikeathon raises funds for Macclesfield youth charity Just Drop In, and is supported by Macclesfield Town Council."

For cyclists after a more strenuous challenge, a charity 33-mile and 64-mile cycle deep into the Cheshire Plain is also on offer.

The last event attracted over 180 entrants, and raised £3500 for Just Drop In.

Despite the cancellation of last year's event, many generous Macclesfield residents chose to donate their fee.

This now means to date Macclesfield Bikeathon has raised £4500 for charity.

The event has received the endorsement of Macclesfield MP David Rutley.

Entry fees for the Family Ride are £25 per family, being two adults and two children.

It is £25 per person for the 33 and 64 mile routes.
