Former Macclesfield Town boss Paul Ince had found himself a new job.

The-ex Premier League footballer, who hung his boots up at Macclesfield Town FC in a player-manager role, is the interim manager at Reading.

It is his first management job since leaving Blackpool in 2014.

He will share the temporary management job with Michael Gilkes.

Reading are currently embroiled in a relegation battle in the Championship.

Ince is no stranger to relegation, having steered defunct club Macclesfield Town FC to safety in the 2006-07 season.

On October 23 2006, Ince was confirmed as player-manager of Macclesfield Town in succession to Brian Horton. He would only play one by game for Macc, opting to stay in the dug out instead.

He joined Macclesfield with the club bottom of League Two, seven points away from 23rd.

A 3–0 win in a Cheshire derby against Chester was a significant turning point for Ince, and a victory as convincing as that is needed for Ince's job down in Berkshire as well.

A highlight of the momentum included a On 4 January 2007 Ince was named as League Two Manager of the Month for December.

Ince managed to make Macc avoid relegation on the last day of the season. He won 14 of his 35 matches in charge for our town's old football club, losing 13 and drawing eight.

The ex-Silkmen managed would then go onto coach MK Dons, Blackburn Rovers, MK Dons again, Notts County, and Blackpool.

Ince's first match co-managing the Royals saw Reading win 3-2 away at Preston.

Ince's son Thomas also plays for Reading.
