A Macclesfield good cause has received a large donation from one of our town's biggest employer.

Macclesfield's East Cheshire Hospice, of Millbank Drive, welcomed AstraZeneca Macclesfield to their site.

The charity which offers care to those suffering with life-limiting illnesses, received the latest cheque from the Charter Way pharmaceutical company.

The cheque was for £20,869.59, and was among the £70,000 AZ Macclesfield and Alderley Park raised for charity in 2021.

They have also raised funds for The Christie Macclesfield.

Employee donations, matched contributions and event sponsorships helped fundraise the figure.

Last December, AstraZeneca also helped the community by providing support to Silklife Food Bank, of George Street.

The COVID-19 vaccine-makers also launched an 'Active Science' partnership with Macclesfield FC.

Guy Camm, Macclesfield AstraZeneca Campus FM Development Manager, was proud to announce commitment to The Christie and East Cheshire Hospice again for 2022.

"We know that our local charities, in common with many others across the country, suffered from significant reductions to their fundraising during the pandemic as so many activities were curtailed," he said.

"We're delighted to be providing support once again this year.

"Both charities provide crucial support to individuals and families across our community."

Mr Camm has worked for AstraZeneca Macclesfield job since May 2020.

East Cheshire Hospice have over 100 staff and 600 volunteers in the local area. They rely on public donations, as evidenced by the grateful words of Corporate Fundraiser Lisa Ball.

"AstraZeneca have been fantastic to fundraise with and we are so lucky to have them supporting us," she said.

"AstraZeneca have helped us to maximise all fundraising opportunities with such a passionate team of staff who have either donated, organised fundraising activities or volunteered for us.

"We can't wait for the next year of fundraising with AZ!"
