Family-run locksmith in Macclesfield celebrates 20 years in business
By Matthew Hancock-Bruce 8th Feb 2026
Macclesfield Lock & Safe recently celebrated 20 years in business, with 2026 positioned for unprecedented growth.
For over two decades, this family-run business has been supporting and serving Treacle Town's homes, businesses and schools.
Owner and master locksmith Adam Dale is not one to rest on his laurels, and this year he is looking to take the company to the next level, with planned recruitment, new product launches and further investment in the latest key cutting technology.

Origins and relocation
After completing a time-served apprenticeship in locksmithing, Adam set up his own business in 2005.
With a customer-centric approach, Adam looks to put his clients at the heart of every decision, from the products they offer to the service they deliver.
"I wanted to offer people an alternative," he said.
"For me, it was about making a company that was more customer focused.
"My aim, at that time, was to go to the people rather than having the people come to me."
Initially a mobile business, Adam opened his first shop on Park Lane in 2014.
After a few years Macclesfield Lock & Safe moved the into larger premises in 2019, when the company relocated to its current home at 7-9 Windmill Street, Macclesfield.
Adam said: "We had to move to help us grow the business.
"We also needed somewhere that could accommodate our ever growing stock of security products and key blanks - probably the largest in Macclesfield.
"The additional retail space in the new premises allowed us to create a safe showroom giving customers the chance to see and feel the products they are buying before making that all important purchase, with our friendly and knowledgeable team on hand to offer advice if and when required."

A trusted service
Today, Macclesfield Lock & Safe provide a variety of services to residential and commercial customers throughout Cheshire.
From traditional locksmithing and key cutting, to safe installations, access control systems, fire door inspections and commercial aluminium door repairs and servicing.
A Master Locksmiths Association approved company, they are trusted by many local organisations, including the CWP NHS Trust, East Cheshire NHS Trust, Cheshire East Council, Arighi Bianchi, Canal & River Side Trust and East Cheshire Housing Consortium, to name only a few.
Adam said: "We pride ourselves on supporting our local businesses, schools and residents, going above and beyond!"
They also work with many local schools, and it is not lost on them just how important their job is.
"Safeguarding is such a big thing now and it's a real undertaking to ensure we're up to the latest standards," Adam said.
"We have to make sure we give it 110% every single day."
Macclesfield Lock & Safe are the only locksmith locally to offer a 24/7 call out service, which sets them apart from the competition.
Their google reviews speak for themselves!

Growing the team
Of course, it's not a one-man operation and Adam is supported by a close-knit team - all of whom are Macclesfield born-and-bred.
His wife Kelly serves as office manager, Mark Birchenough as digital sales and marketing manager and his dependable team of locksmiths, Craig Chesters and Roger O'Brien.
In 2026, they are planning to grow the team and are actively searching for an apprentice looking to kickstart their career.
Adam said: "Because of the nature of this industry, the only true way to develop and nurture talent is to bring them in as an apprentice, show them the ropes and teach them everything they need to know and guide them through their Master Locksmith exam."
