A family-run business is to close after more than 35 years.

Henshaws Envirocare has announced it will be shutting down at the end of March.

The Macclesfield-based waste management company say this decision comes as the business is no longer sustainable.

A post on the firm's Facebook page read: "After many successful years of operation, it is with a heavy heart that we must announce the closure of Henshaws Envirocare Ltd, effective at the end of March 2025.

"Unfortunately, due to various factors, we are no longer able to sustain the company's trading activities.

"We wish to take this opportunity to thank all our customers for your custom and support over the years and wish you the very best for the future."

Joe Henshaw set up Henshaws Envirocare in 1989, originally as a coal merchant.

In the early nineties, he expanded the company to offer a skip hire service and the company began to grow.

Over the following years Henshaws would develop into a a complete waste management company, employing dozens of members of staff.
