Macclesfield's own whisky distillery has have won another award, in their first year since the product's launch.

Forest Whisky, the latest tipple from Macclesfield distillers Forest Distillery, have won an International award.

Already known for their multi-award winning gin, their whisky have just won their second award.

They won in the Blended Whisky Category Master Medal at the World Whiskey Masters competition.

The global accolade is for their 26th batch, using whisky aged over three years in wooden casks from England's only remaining handmade barrel maker.

Karl and Lindsay Bond co-own Forest Distillery, which make the award-winning Gin and Whisky on the site of the former Cat and Fiddle inn.

"The new award was blind tasting, held down in London," said Karl.

"The highest award they usually give is a gold medal, but if all judges score at least 92 out of 100, you qualify for a Master award which is above a gold, and we've got that.

"Thanks to all the customers and especially local support, which has been tremendous.

"A lot of hard work goes into making whisky, so without their support it wouldn't happen.

"The distillery tours sell out every week, and we are selling out of our whisky. So our team are working really hard to make more.

"The tours are light-hearted, informal and friendly. You don't need to be a whisky nerd to enjoy, just bring some friends. Tour tickets are £25, with two full drinks and lots of samples, it's quite a boozy day, so book a taxi home."

They are also accepting bookings for Christmas events and parties, with many local businesses already booking up a wintry day out for their team.

It is the second award for Forest Whisky, having only been on the market in the last year.

It is not the only recent award for the Forest Distillery brand as a whole.

The 12 staff behind the bar at Forest Distillery have also won a TripAdvisor award, which puts them in the Top 10% of Global Tourist Attractions.
