A former Mayor of Macclesfield has created over 100 stylised postcards to be sent for Pride this year.

Macclesfield Photographer and Illustrator Adam Schofield (40), has drawn an idyllic Mill Street view of Macclesfield Town Hall.

It features the Pride flag currently atop the building where he used to serve Macclesfield from as Mayor. Two other rainbows complete the image.

The postcard has attracted almost 100 likes on Instagram.

"I was asked to take part in the Macclesfield Pride 'out and about' Art and Photography exhibition and thought I'd get some postcards made of the illustration that I am exhibiting," said Adam.

"I just reworked my pre-existing Town Hall illustration to make it a lot more energetic, colourful and pride themed. It's also, in my opinion, the focal point of the town so seemed fitting to base my Pride themed illustration here.

"It's not cost a lot, the illustration took me a few days on and off with a lot of start overs but it's all for a great cause so was more than happy to dig into my pocket a little.

"But my time in designing these is nothing compared to what their volunteers have given over the year to make this event happen.

"The response from my social media followers has been great, I have a lot of Instagram followers keen to get their hands on one.

"I've received lots of messages asking for one, I've told them to follow Macclesfield Pride's social media to see how and when they might be able to get one."

It is not the first charitable deed Adam has done since his term as Mayor.

Last year he designed and sold some charity Christmas Cards for Cheshire Streetwise, raising £275 for them and hopes to top that for 2021.

Adam has also just become a Trustee at the Rossendale Trust in Sutton.

"I was the Mayor of Macclesfield in 2018/19 and was delighted to have supported and attended the first Macclesfield Pride," he added.

"I met a lot of great charities and organisations throughout my time as Mayor and continue to support and promote them as best I can.

"I will also be donating my framed exhibition entry to them in the hope that it help with their fundraising."

Macc Pride will decide the use for the Adam's designs later in the month.

While unaffiliated with pride, the postcards are for the organisers to use, however they choose, as part of Macclesfield Pride 2021.

Macclesfield's Pride events will culminate with a screening of the Bill Nighy film Pride on June 30.
