Macclesfield is a town that punches above our weight creatively.
We have some fantastic visual artists, authors and of course musicians.
So we have decided to compile an article celebrating new music from our town that has released this month.
Here are four Macclesfield music artists who have brought out some new tunes in the month of August. Links to listen to all tracks are in red. And one is linked at the top of this article. Speaking of...
Sour Honey - Cold Coffee
Sour Honey are a Manchester-influenced indie band with a quarter of their members from Macclesfield. And their songwriter Darragh Burke (25) is from our town.
The King's School and Royal Northern College of Music alumni penned Cold Coffee with his Sour Honey bandmates.
While the analogy of hot coffee and sex go together, Cold Coffee is a groovy take on the morning after.
The song was produced by Joe Chicarelli, who has worked with Elton John, The Strokes, The Killers and Morrissey among others.
You can listen to the four minute track at the top of this article, or by clicking here.
Their debut single has 10,000 streams since releasing on Friday August 26.
The Virginmarys - Devil Keeps Coming
Boasting 63,000 streams on Spotify per month alone, The Virginmarys are one of Macclesfield's most active bands.
Since performing a homecoming show in Christ Church, the duo have released two new songs, and their third of the year.
Most recently is Devil Keeps Coming, from their EP of the same name, which can be pre-ordered here.
Another track from the EP called You're A Killer, was recently played on BBC Radio 2 by Johnnie Walker. Fingers crossed Devil Keeps Coming will do as well.
With haunting backing vocals, references to the sins of California, plus fire and anger worthy of the song's title.
The new three-minute single has 4,000 streams since releasing on Friday August 26. Give it a spin here.
Megan Dixon Hood - Athena
On August 19, Bollington singer-songwriter Megan Dixon Hood released another single from her forthcoming debut album.
You will get lost in the world of the 27-year-old's latest single. Athena is a cinematic four minute track, with Megan showing off her broad vocal range, complimented by an almost Latin-pop like beat.
But such praise about the track should be no surprise for a song named after the Greek goddess of wisdom.
For fans of Kate Bush, Florence and the Machine or AURORA.
You can listen to the single here.
Low Orbit - Dead Men Tell No Tales
Releasing their first music of 2022 is Macclesfield five-piece Low Orbit.
A dirty rock track with an American-esque vocal delivery and arena ready guitars, the Macclesfield prolific giggers shine on their latest track.
For fans of early 2000s radio rock, Dead Men Tell No Tales has a big chorus. and like other entries on the list so far is also four minutes long.
