An upmarket bakery chain is coming to Macclesfield.

GAIL's has confirmed it will be opening its first store in Silktown in 'early spring'.

The artisan bakers will take over the corner unit on Chestergate most recently home to PR Jones Jewellers, which closed earlier this month.

Signs have gone up in the window that read: "Hello Macclesfield.

"We'll be baking here soon."

There are also two QR codes on the storefront, one linking to the loyalty app where you can claim a free drink and another linking to the GAIL's jobs website.

There is currently just one vacancy listed for the Macclesfield location – an assistant manager position.

"We are looking for an assistant bakery manager who has a passion to join the GAIL's family and use a hands-on approach to be a **team builder**, maximizing the skills and confidence of the team," the job listing reads.

"You should be motivated by **achieving** great results whilst being **responsible** in maintaining our high standards. With no day being the same, you must be **charismatic** and positive to manage the changes and challenges each day may bring."

The first GAIL's bakery opened in London's Hampstead High Street in 2005.

Today they have more than 150 branches, many of which are in or around the capital.

In 2023 they began to expand up north, opening a store in Wilmslow.

This has been followed by locations in the likes of Knutsford, Altrincham and Didsbury.
