Have your say on dog fouling in Macclesfield
Cheshire East Council want you to have your say in two new consultations.
Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs) are orders which exist to control behaviours that have, or are likely to have, a detrimental effect on the quality of life of people, who live in the area where they are in place.
One new PSPO out for consultation is a borough-wide order, which relates to dog poo.
Dog's mess poses a danger to public health as it can cause blindness, or be slipped on.
Macclesfield residents could use the survey to highlight where is bad for high volumes of pet poo, or where they think more bins are needed.
And your voice may be heard, as Cheshire East Council manage our town's streets and parks.
All residents of the borough can comment on this consultation. (It is linked at the bottom of the article).
The other consultation requests comments on another existing PSPO relating to properties that have gated alleyways.
In a statement, Cheshire East Council said: "The council welcomes feedback from residents and businesses, who have properties that back onto any current gated alleyways in the borough if they do not agree with our proposals.
"This consultation is not to get feedback on any properties that don't currently have a gated alleyway.
Examples of behaviour that Public Spaces Protection Orders can cover are:
- the consumption of alcohol;
- dog fouling and dog control;
- anti-social use of vehicles;
- controlling access over public land;
- public urination/defecation; and
- aggressive behaviours linked to begging, street peddling or preaching
Macclesfield Broken Cross Councillor Judy Snowball, vice chair of Cheshire East Council's environment and communities committee said: "As with any consultation relating to PSPOs, I especially urge residents, members of the public and businesses in the communities that these current orders address, to come forward with their comments.
"It is important that, where necessary, these orders are reviewed to ensure that we are taking all possible routes to address behaviours that may distress or alarm the public."
Macclesfield: To have your say on these consultations, please visit: Public Spaces Protection Orders (PSPOs) (cheshireeast.gov.uk). Alternatively, paper copies can be requested by contacting the anti-social behaviour team directly on 0300 123 5030 and leaving a message, which they will respond to.
Both consultations are available for comments now and will remain open until midday on Wednesday 6 September.
