Homebuilders acquire 25-acre Macclesfield site for 216-home development

Homebuilders have acquired a 25-acre site in southwest Macclesfield.
Redrow and Jones Home are looking to transform the land with the construction of 216 properties, with plans approved over two years ago.
They say will help to meet local demand, with infrastructure works scheduled to get underway in early autumn.
Housebuilding is expected to begin next year with the first legal completions anticipated in summer 2027.
"This is an exciting opportunity to deliver much-needed, high-quality sustainable family housing in a desirable semi-rural setting," said Gareth Stansfield, land director at Redrow NW.
"The development will help address housing need in southwest Macclesfield and deliver wide-ranging benefits for the local community, including significant contributions to local education, healthcare, and recreation infrastructure."
Redrow will deliver 99 new properties on the northern part off the site, with Jones Home building 117 homes on the southern parcle.
Just under a third (30%) are designated as affordable housing.
In total, Redrow and Jones Homes will contribute almost £1.5 million through Section 106 agreements, linked to the planning consent, including almost £1.1 million to support primary and secondary education and special educational needs, almost £220,000 towards healthcare, and around £180,000 towards sports and recreation.
Luke Jones, land director at Jones Homes, said: "After more than 30 years of promoting this land for development as part of the wider South West Macclesfield Development Area, we are thrilled to commence on this first phase and advance Jones Homes' presence in Macclesfield with another, high-quality residential site, which will consist of two to four-bedroom houses in a range of mews, semi-detached and detached designs."
