A house in-between the Weston and Ivymeade has been shut down by Police following complaints from neighbouring residents.

A closure order has been granted on property, which Macclesfield Police claim was 'plagued by anti-social behaviour' and caused 'misery' to locals.

Over the years, officers have received numerous reports of ASB and drug-related activity at the property on Dawson Road.

These reports have included issues with drug dealing, large numbers of people attending at the address drinking heavily, disorder and rats at the property.

Macclesfield Police Station is located on Brunswick Street.

After gathering a catalogue of evidence, officers from Macclesfield Beat Team attended Crewe Magistrates' Court on Wednesday 16 November where they were granted a three month closure order.

The occupant of the address, a 60 year-old woman has now been ordered to leave the property and find alternative accommodation.

All windows and doors will now be boarded up for a period of three months. Anyone who enters the address during that time is committing an offence and can be arrested.

Sergeant Matt Bassirat said: "I know that the closure order will be massively welcomed by the local community who have had to live in misery due to the ASB activity in and around the property.

"The behaviour that stemmed from the property was wholly unacceptable and we will take action against anyone who is seen to be breaching the order.

"I would also like to thank residents for making us aware of the activity which undoubtedly assisted us in securing the closure.

"Our Beat Team will do everything possible to ensure that our area is a safe place to live without being disrupted by a small minority and we would urge anyone with concerns in their community to please report it to us and we will do the rest."

Anyone with concerns about ASB in their area is asked to report it to Cheshire Police via https://www.cheshire.police.uk/tua/tell-us-about/soh/seen-or-heard/ or call 101.

Macclesfield residents are asked to complete a Residents' Voice survey about issues in their community, you can do so by visiting: https://www.cheshire.police.uk/police-forces/cheshire-constabulary/areas/cheshire/campaigns/macclesfield/residents-voice-macclesfield/.

According to the most recent Police.UK stats, six incidents of anti-social behaviour were recorded in Macclesfield West and Ivy in September 2022.
