Macclesfield will come together to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

Over the course of the next week, the town will host several events offering a chance for residents to pay respects to those who gave their lives for us.

This includes a brass band concert, freebies for veterans and the annual Remembrance Sunday parade.

Below, you will find all the details you need.

Remembrance Concert

Silk Brass will hold a Concert of Remembrance on Saturday, November 8.

Held at St Michael's Church, the show begins at 7.30pm.

Tickets are priced at £12 (u16s free) and can be purchased in advance from Macclesfield Library or on the door on the night.

Remembrance Sunday Parade

The main event of this year's commemorations will of course be the Remembrance Sunday Parade and Service on November 9.

The parade will gather behind Macclesfield Town Hall from 10am, setting off at 10.25am.

Led by Silk Brass, the procession will make its way across Market Place and down Mill Street before arriving at the Cenotaph in Park Green in time for the national two-minute silence at 11am.

This will be followed by the wreath laying ceremony and the Service of Remembrance.

Following this, the parade will reform and march back, past the front of the Town Hall where the Mayor will take the salute.

Please note, that several road closures will be place around the Town Hall, Park Green and the parade route.

The Macclesfield community are invited to gather and observe two minutes of silence.

Free pints

The Dolphin is offering free drinks to all veterans and current-serving military personnel on Sunday, November 9.

A staff member at the Windmill Street pub said: "To show our gratitude to those who serve or have served, we're offering a drink on the house to all members of the Armed Forces – past and present – this Remembrance Day.

"Join us as we take a moment to reflect, remember, and raise a glass in honour of their service."

Remembrance @ Christ Church

Christ Church on Bridge Street will host a display remembering those connected to the church who gave their lives in the two world wars.

It will be open to the public from 10.30am to 3pm on both Saturday and Sunday.
