Huge prize raffle in Gawsworth for Macclesfield Parkinson's charity
There's a chance to win some big prizes, for a good cause in Macclesfield.
A raffle for The ALEX Project will take place next month, a Bollington group which provides support throughout the week for people with Parkinson's disease.
Arighi Bianchi, Kickback Coffee and The Flower House are just some of the big names that have donated prizes.
The event takes place at Gawsworth Methodist Church Hall, of Dark Lane, on Thursday October 12.
Turn up for 10am, and make sure to bring cash to take part in the raffle.
Raffle organiser Carole Poole has worked diligently along with other volunteers to source the prizes.
"Thank you to all the businesses who have donated prizes, and to any members of the community who will take part", said Carole.
""Every prize is a surprise. But we have some amazing prizes on offer.
"I've even donated a prize myself",
All of the prizes are from Macclesfield businesses.
From gift shops to local artists, and even high street chains like Boots, there's presents for everyone up for grabs.
Other names to have donated includes the Co-op at Thornton Square and Mill Street furniture shop Blue Tree Home.
It is not too late to donate prizes. Macclesfield businesses who wish to donate can contact The ALEX Project Treasurer Damien Mead via 07980912168.
Every week, Gawsworth Methodist Church Hall does a coffee morning for charity. And it is now the turn of The ALEX Project.
The ALEX Project is a support group for people with Parkinson's. As well as offering emotional support and companionship throughout the week, there is also a weekly meet-up on Wednesday at Bollington Health and Leisure.
This leisure centre meet-up allows tailored physiotherapy and exercise programmes to help with Parkinson's disease.
Hundreds of people benefit from The ALEX Project, which supports not just Maxonians but people as far as Glossop and Mow Cop.
And like with everything in this world, all of the above requires funding, which the raffle will directly support.
Members of The ALEX Project will be baking cakes that are also on sale in aid of the local good cause.
"The ALEX Project supports Parkinson's Patients, their partners, friends and relatives," added Carole.
"We offer a service five days a week."
Any extra cash donated will make organiser Carole wear her signature Union Jack leggings.
The ALEX Project is affiliated with Parkinson's UK, who have commended the group for being 'one-of-a-kind'.
