A Macclesfield gift shop is celebrating their first anniversary on the high street.

Loola Loves, on Chestergate's west side, began as an online store of handmade gifts cherry-picked by businesswoman Louise Bullock.

In June 2022, she graduated to a stall in Macclesfield Indoor Market.

And in October 2022, she opened a shop on 67 Chestergate.

Twelve months later, she is celebrating her first anniversary as a store.

"It doesn't feel like it has been a year it has absolutely flown by", said Louise.

"I honestly don't know where the time has gone!

"For my one year anniversary, we are going to be having a day of free cookies and celebration cakes for customers.

"I will also have a discount across the shop. And from 3pm to 5pm there will be fizz for anyone who wants to come and celebrate.

"I will also be giving away beautiful Loola Loves branded tote bags on transactions over £35."

The Loola Loves 1st Birthday Party will be celebrated on Saturday October 7.

She is open from 10am to 5pm that day, with drinks during the last two hours.

Her products on offer range from candles to embroidery gifts. All with a wholesome, independent spirit to them.

"I would like to say a huge thank you to those who have supported me over the past year," professed Louise.

"I have been absolutely blown away by how many people have come along, supported me, and shared my shops existence with friends or family.

"Last Christmas was even better than I could have imagined, and that has just continued on."

Many of the gifts are local with local creatives Marcmakescomics, Z in the Attic and Alison Stairmand Jewellery being amongst the Macclesfield giftmakers stocked at Loola Loves.

New greetings cards are in for the Festive season, as our wreaths from Macclesfield florist Sarah Hinchcliffe AKA North and Flower.

Products by Bollington and Rainow homeware outfit Rawr Home will also be available from Loola Loves soon.

Fragrancy firm Holistic Earth are another Macclesfield giftmaker with products in-store, with Louise's business allowing a permanent physical high street presence for many of these local online-only businesses.

"It is brilliant to stock gifts made by local people," added Louise.

"I am working with some people that don't yet work with other local businesses so it is nice to provide that outlet for their work.

"I feel I have got a nice balance between national and local stock, and it seems to be going down well with my customers."

And for the first time, Louise has introduced gift cards to her shop, in case you are not sure what to buy but know a loved one will like her store.

"I am really grateful for all the support I have had", concluded Louise.

"It is really important to share that with everyone because there are a lot of people that think that this town doesn't have much to offer.

"But all I see, is more businesses popping up and more people turning out to support them. There are new people stumbling across Loola Loves every day.

"And they like what they see, and come back again. I am currently part of Totally Local Macclesfield [a new group to launch which champions local business], so hopefully we will really be able to get the message out there that there is plenty to do in this town."
