A Macclesfield architecture firm is in contention to be crowned the region's best.

Hamer Way Architects has been shortlisted for Best RIBA Chartered Architecture Practice at the Grafters Awards 2025, which celebrate excellence across the North West's construction and property industry.

It comes at the end of an exciting year for the firm, which recently relocated to the Kathleen Roylance Building on Waters Green.

Co-owner Rhys Way said: "We're genuinely honoured to be nominated for such a respected award alongside some of the North West's finest professionals.

"It's a real reflection of the dedication of our team, the trust of our clients, and the collaborative spirit that underpins everything we do."

Hamer Way Architects was founded in 2017 by Rhys and his wife, Sophie Hamer.

Based in what Sophie describes as Macclesfield's emerging 'property quarter', the pair are part of a growing network of local design and property businesses.

Since setting up the firm, Rhys and Sophie say have worked on a wide variety of projects across the North West, from modern homes and conversions to community and commercial spaces and conservation projects.

The couple feel their nomination for a Grafters Award is recognition of the immense effort that has gone into building their team and developing long-term partnerships with clients.

It also highlights the impact that small, independent practices can have within the region's architectural community.

Rhys added: "Being recognised at this level reinforces our belief that good architecture is as much about relationships and process as it is about design."

The Grafters Awards are now in their 10th year and are seen as one of the North West's most respected events for those working in design, development, and construction.

They recognise companies that stand out for professionalism, innovation, and collaboration.

The winners of the Grafters Awards will be announced later this month at a gala ceremony in Manchester.

Voting is open to the public and closes at 5pm this Friday (October 17).
