Independent gift shop to depart high street home after three and a half years
By Matthew Hancock-Bruce 30th Jan 2026
An independent gift shop is departing the high street.
Loola Loves will soon be shutting its doors after three and a half years on Chestergate.
Owner Louise Bullock says a number of factors played into this decision, the main one being a desire to spend more time with her family.
She said: "Launching eight years ago, my dream was to eventually find a home on our high street.
"I wanted to showcase the work of independent designers, makers and creatives, bring a little joy to the high street and promote sustainable gifting.
"But most of all, build upon our wonderful community! I feel proud to have done just that and have loved every minute of it."
Louise continued: "I want to share my immense gratitude with all of my wonderful customers, suppliers and neighbours, who have supported me throughout my journey; chosen to gift their loved ones with Loola Loves finds, joined us for our evening events and supported our exhibition openings and visiting artists.
"Many of you have become friends and that means the world to me!"

The last day to shop in-store will be Sunday, February 22.
After that, the business will move back to its online origins.
Louise said: "We'd love for you to continue to shop with us on our website – continuing our free local delivery and click and collect options.
"You'll also see me 'popping up' across the town every now and again, along with organising community events like Summer Days.
"Please do continue to support my business and let your friends know that I haven't gone far!
"I'll share more info over the coming days. But in the meantime, pop in so I can see your lovely faces one last time before I close, and enjoy the huge clearance sale across the store."
