Investigation underway as 77-year-old pedestrian remains in hospital after crash near Tesco

An investigation is underway following a crash near the Tesco superstore in Macclesfield.
Black Lane was shut for several hours on Thursday, July 2, as emergency services dealt with the aftermath of a crash near the exit of the supermarket.
The collision involved a car and a female pedestrian, who was left with 'serious injuries'.
A North West Air Ambulance landed on the forecourt of the Tesco petrol station, with the crew treating the woman before accompanying her to Manchester Royal Infirmary in the back of a road ambulance.
Providing an update on Friday morning, July 3, Cheshire Police confirmed that the woman remains in hospital, with an investigation into the incident underway.
A spokesperson said: "At 11.04am on Thursday, July 2, police were called to reports of a collision in Black Lane, Macclesfield.
"Officers attended and found there had been a collision between a car and a pedestrian.
"The pedestrian – a 77-year-old woman – suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital where she remains at this time.
"No arrests were made and enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to call Cheshire Police on 101 or visit www.cheshire.police.uk/tell-us quoting IML-2363945."
