An investigation is underway following a crash near the Tesco superstore in Macclesfield.

Black Lane was shut for several hours on Thursday, July 2, as emergency services dealt with the aftermath of a crash near the exit of the supermarket.

The collision involved a car and a female pedestrian, who was left with 'serious injuries'.

A North West Air Ambulance landed on the forecourt of the Tesco petrol station, with the crew treating the woman before accompanying her to Manchester Royal Infirmary in the back of a road ambulance.
