The latest COVID-19 Figures for the Macclesfield area
As sixteen to seventeen year olds take up the vaccine, but cases continue to remain in the five-figures nationally, we have the latest figures breakdown for our area.
For the last month, Macclesfield hasn't been reporting on the latest coronavirus numbers.
With the kids being on summer holidays leading to a slowing in case increases, and hospitalisations remaining low, we felt we had more important stories to cover.
However, with children going back to school, and hospitalisations at their highest rate nationally since March 2021, we feel Macclesfield should be in the know with how prevalent cases are in our area.
Please find the amount of cases listed in every area of Macclesfield below.
The data next to the word 'cases' is the amount of positive tests in that area for the seven days up to August 20.
The number in brackets denotes the last data we reported on was July 16, so we have included the change from just over a month ago for comparison purposes.
It is interesting to note that the July 16 figures were before the schools shut, and before July 19's 'Freedom Day', which saw the lifting of all coronavirus restrictions across Macclesfield.
Please note, the Macclesfield areas are listed in alphabetical order. Once again, brackets denotes the difference from August 20 data to July 16.

This is a decrease of 279 from the 449 active cases in our town as of July 16.
So while cases in Macclesfield are down from last month, will they creep up again as schools return?
The mingling of an unvaccinated population once again would suggest so. However, vaccines are helping protect other groups as we approach the most of Macc being inoculated.
Everywhere in Macclesfield has at least 82.3% of the population with their first dose of the coronavirus vaccine.
At least 72.9% have had a second dose across Macc, with the lowest figure being in Macclesfield, with their youngest population of residents.
Conversely, Prestbury and Adlington have the highest rate of second dose vaccination with their high retired population. 82.7% have had their second jab.
Macclesfield Nub News' Editor has been double-vaccinated. Have you?
Just four people with coronavirus from Cheshire East went into hospital on 15 August 2021.
For data protection reasons, it is unknown if any of these went into Macc's Victoria Road hospital.
Between 9 August 2021 and 15 August 2021, 11 went into hospital with coronavirus. This shows no change compared to the previous 7 days.
There were 12 Cheshire East patients in hospital with coronavirus on 17 August 2021.
Some people in the hospital need to use a special device called a mechanical ventilator to help them breathe.
There is good news though, as there were zero coronavirus patients in hospital beds with a mechanical ventilator on 17 August 2021, which are often the most severe patients.
There have been two deaths from coronavirus in Cheshire East hospitals from August 19 to 25.
Our thoughts are with those affected by the deceased patients from our borough.
