Macclesfield author, John Winkler, used his family's experiences of the Second World War to create a novel and members of the Friends of Bollington library heard all about it at a special event.

The Mulberry Leaf cafe was the venue for the Friends of Bollington library's literary evening on Friday night (November 15th).

'Unbidden' follows the members of the family going through tough and traumatic times. Joann and Hans as prisoners of war in Britain and the sisters in Labour camps in Ukraine and Siberia.

It is the story of resilience, bravery and survival and the strength of family bonds and members of the Friends of Bollington library got an insight into how they can research their own family history.

Cate Wallace, from Bollington library, talked about on library goers can find about their own family's history by using library's resources and accessing records on Ancestry.

Cate also explained how you can book an hour's session with a librarian one-to-one, for £3.
