A Macclesfield business is celebrating as they are in the running to win a national award.

Kan Do Ventures based in Macclesfield, Cheshire has been chosen as a finalist for the Legacy Award at this year's Small Awards. 

The Westminster Road business management consultants - which will also celebrate their one-year anniversary next month - are up against seven other family businesses in their category.

Kan Do Ventures Kan Do Ventures was founded by husband and wife team, Chun-Kit and Alice Kan and aims to provides project services within rail, pharmaceuticals as well as a broad range of tailored support to SMEs.

Kan Do Ventures has provided solutions to businesses within the rail and pharmaceutical industries, as well as a broad range of support services to SMEs (small-medium enterprises).

"It is great to be recognised for hard work we have put in over the last 10 years and legacy we are creating," said Alice.

"To us, family means forming relationships and creating an environment where people can be their truest self, and we want a professional environment that emulates this."

Six people work for Kan Do Ventures, which also have a site in Manchester, and they use local freelancers and suppliers to support their projects.

Now in its eighth year, The Small Awards is a nationwide search for the smallest and greatest firms in the UK, across all sectors. It is organised annually by Small Business Britain, which champions, inspires and accelerates the nation's 5.5 million small firms.

The Legacy Award for Best Family Business category, that the Macclesfield organisation is nominated in, recognises the unique characteristics, challenges, and strengths of family-run businesses.

The winning business demonstrates involvement and contribution from family members as well as business success over a period of time. 

"The Small Awards is all about celebrating the inspiring small business owners who are at the heart of the economy and their communities," said Michelle Ovens CBE, Founder of Small Business Britain.

Judged by a panel of industry experts, the winners of all categories, including the overall winner of the Small Business of the Year award, will be announced at a splendid awards ceremony in London on May 16, 2024.  

The ceremony will this year be held at St Mary's church in London, with plans underway for a night of entertainment, inspiration, and celebration for UK's greatest small businesses. 

The company's mission is to provide short-term support to ensure real and sustainable improvements to businesses and projects.
