It is World Cleanup Day on Friday, September 20.

But to promote that keeping a place pretty is not just for one day, a community litter pick will be held on Monday, September 23.

The community litter pick will take place at 6pm to 7pm on Monday.

Equipment is provided, and meet-up will be outside Macclesfield Town Hall.

Organised by Macclesfield Town Council and Totally Locally Macclesfield (the collective of independent businesses), the 60 minute spruce up of our town is a way to meet new people and help Macclesfield shine.

Attendee Gavin Rolph said: "The hour flies by."

"We get dead competitive.

"We are so massively determined to have a full bag.

"The aim is to have this event every month or so."

Recent attendees include members of Scoop and Scales, staff from Leek Building Society, and former Mayor's of Macclesfield, and the general public.

The free litter pick is open to all ages. No booking is required. Simply show up.
