A group of motorcycle enthusiasts and a Macclesfield parish has done their bit for charity.

Rainow Ravens, who are regular patrons of The Robin Hood pub on Church Lane, Rainow recently held a presentation there for money they had raised for a charity.

The Ravens fundraised hundreds of pounds for North West Air Ambulance, a charity which serves the town.

In times of medical emergency, their helicopters will arrive at places like South Park in Macclesfield and provide emergency pre-hospital medical assistance, to those that need it.

North West Air Ambulance, provides enhanced pre-hospital care to the most critically ill & injured patients across the north west.

So the local motorbikers recently held a meet at the bike friendly pub the Robin Hood to raise funds for the charity, which is headquartered in Knowsley, Merseyside.

Organiser Sarah Barton said: "With the help of other bike clubs as well as residents from the village, we raised an amazing £414."

"We plan to make this a regular event annually for the same charity.

"Thank you to all involved.

The pub, which is on the B5470, has been operated by publican Karen Lawrence since spring 2023.

"The Ravens organised a BBQ which we held at The Robin Hood," said Karen.

"They obtained amazing donations of prizes for a raffle and raised over £400 doing so! Next year we plan to have live music and maybe a 'Best Motorcycle Competition'!

"I'm so glad to support the North West Air Ambulance Charity, who are totally self funding."

"We meet every week at The Robin Hood," added Sarah.

"Karen is marvellous and very supportive."

The country pub recently purchased new signage.

North West Air Ambulance fundraising manager Emma Pearson said: "We'd like to say a huge thank you to the Rainow for raising money for our lifesaving charity.

"It's a wonderful amount raised and the support from local groups is so vital as we receive no government funding and are not part of the NHS."

Earlier this year, a Macclesfield man publicly thanked the charity for saving his life.
